Winner to be recognized on-field at the National Funding Holiday Bowl

SAN DIEGO – In conjunction with Southwest Airlines and the Cushman Foundation, the National Funding Holiday Bowl awarded a local San Diego high school student a $7,500 scholarship award, officials announced today. Cheyenne Cobb of Kearny International Business School is the recipient of the 2015 Southwest Airlines Scholarship. The scholarship is presented annually to a high school senior from San Diego County who has excelled academically and within his/her community inside and outside of the classroom. Citizenship and leadership in extracurricular activities are particularly important criteria for the award.

Cobb has a cumulative GPA of 3.7 and participates in several on campus clubs including Key Club, Upward Bound and the school’s yearbook team.  She is also a varsity level student-athlete, serving on the cheer and softball teams.

For her award, Cobb was honored at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Kickoff Luncheon earlier today and also will be recognized on the field during tomorrow’s game.
